ZVT participates at European Maritime Day 2016

European Maritime Day 2016 will take place in Turku, Finland, on 18-19 May. Zero Vision Tool is invited to participate in one of the stakeholder workshops “Partnerships for Green Shipping,” organised by the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) Secretariat and Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission (HELCOM).

The workshop will promote blue growth in shipping through partnerships, both public-private and business-to-business. ZVT will participate in the discussion together with prominent BSR green shipping stakeholders: CBSS Expert Group on Maritime Policy – Promoting Green Shipping through Baltic Sea Maritime Dialogue and by HELCOM Maritime. Industry perspective will also be presented by Napa Oy, Solutions for Design and Operation of Ships.

Joining the discussion on partnerships for green shipping in the Baltic Sea Region is an important occasion for ZVT to present its method of collaboration as a good practice example, and by showing its results and findings, to present that it successfully works.

Various stakeholders agree that in order to enable green shipping solutions, a public-private, as well as business-to-business collaboration is needed. The discussion has for more than a few years been focusing on articulating the very need for it, and contribution to the dialogue by various institutions, on international level including European Commission’s TEN-T Motorways of the Sea framework, as well as HELCOM MARITIME sub-group Green Technology and Alternative Fuels for Shipping, and the work done by the CBSS Expert Group on Maritime Policy had been instrumental. However, there have been lesser discussions about concrete options for collaboration in reality, and what methods can be used. By Zero Vision Tool being invited to participate in the discussion at EMD, the dialogue can be brought forward to the next stage: examples can be discussed, how the collaboration has already been working in practice, what are further challenges to be met, questions to be answered, and opportunities to be seized in aiming for the same vision of prosperity and green maritime economy. For ZVT as a platform and a method that represents over 150 industry stakeholders, it is an opportunity to further enhance its functionality and get closer to the next set of its successful results.
